George Demenÿ

After studying at the Faculty of Lille, Demenÿ Georges (1850 - 1917) arrived in Paris in 1874, where he attended the Sorbonne and College de France.
In 1880, he founded the Circle of rational gymnastics meets and Etienne-Jules Marey. Two years later he was appointed trainer of the Station physiologique du Bois de Boulogne by Marey and carries with it many plates and films chronophotographic.
In 1892, he founded the Society of phonoscope and began manufacturing a camera chronophotographic cam swing, patented October 10, 1893.
Marketing of its aircraft leads the break with Marey; Demenÿ then installs its own studio Villa Chaptal in Levallois-Perret.
In 1895, after the bankruptcy of the Company's phonoscope, he manages to sell its appliances by Leon Gaumont, who just bought the Comptoir General Photography. The Bioscope phonoscope becomes, while the camera is chronophotographic proposed as the biographer.
From 1896 and for ten years, the swing cam patented by Georges Demenÿ is used in all devices built by Gaumont cinema, and in many projectors English.
In 1901 Demenÿ finally yielded to Leon Gaumont full ownership of his patent, and returns to his studies on physical education.
